Your guides on this journey will be Jarosław Tarnovskyi and Alina Honcharova, members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and of the academic community in Kraków, Poland (Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts). This intimate retreat offers hands-on learning with all materials included, from transparent watercolour techniques to complex atmospheric effects, plus an architectural sketching trip to the world heritage city of Oporto. Prices start at €1'115 per person for single occupancy rooms with shared bathroom. Private bathroom and double occupancy options are available. Reduced pricing applies if you choose to bring your own supplies.

Jarosław Tarnovskyi and Alina Honcharova are an artist couple living and creating in Kraków, Poland. Both are members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts — one of the world’s leading art academies.

Jarosław Tarnovskyi is an experienced artist who studied in Kyiv, Budapest, Athens, and Kraków. He is the author of over 2,000 paintings, numerous painting series, and a book dedicated to painting techniques. He has conducted more than a thousand workshops and has gained recognition both in Ukraine and internationally. He primarily works in the alla prima technique and often creates his works en plein air.

Alina Honcharova is a decorative and applied arts artist with 15 years of teaching experience and a recipient of the President of Ukraine’s personalized scholarship in the field of art (2021). She masters a variety of techniques — from batik (silk painting) and painting to original doll making, stained glass, and pysanka (traditional Ukrainian egg decorating). She is actively involved in educational and social projects.

United by shared values and artistic vision, Jarosław and Alina create works that combine beauty, depth, and inspiration. They will jointly run all workshops during the retreat.

Casa do Monte is a family home set in breath-taking countryside near the Douro region, yet easily accessible from Oporto airport. This beautiful house offers many opportunities to relax alone or with others and opens its doors to yoga, art and self-development retreats.
